

Dr. Ramphal is board certified in infectious diseases and is currently Professor, Department of Medicine at the University of Florida. In addition, Dr. Ramphal holds a clinical appointment at the Shands Teaching Hospital, University of Florida Gainesville where he serves on numerous committees including Chairman of the Antibiotic Subcommittee. Dr. Ramphal is an internationally renowned expert in the treatment and mechanisms of resistance of the pervasive and deadly bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa. He has received several NIH study grants to support his work in this field. In addition to his academic and clinical appointments, Dr. Ramphal is a full member of the NIH Bacteriology and Mycology–2 Study Section. Dr. Ramphal has been the author of over 100 peer reviewed publications as well as several text chapters. He is a reviewer for several prominent medical journals including The Journal of Infectious Diseases, Clinical Infectious Diseases, and CHEST.
